Public meeting set to discuss ADA transition plan

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has scheduled a public meeting for the afternoon of Dec. 7 to discuss its proposed ADA Transition Plan.

The meeting will be held from 2:30 to 4 pm at THPRD’s Beaverton Swim Center, 12850 SW Third Street (next to Beaverton High School). The public is invited to learn about the plan, ask questions and make comments.

With assistance from consultant MIG, the park district has completed a detailed assessment of more than 200 park sites and facilities throughout its 50-square-mile service area. The goal is to provide equal access to programs, services and activities in compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

THPRD’s ADA Transition Plan, based on the assessment, identifies barriers to access for persons with disabilities and a timeline to remove those barriers. Some examples of improvements include accessible benches, pathway repaving, and adjustments to play area features.
