The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District has scheduled a public meeting for the evening of July 14 to discuss the proposed renaming of its Tennis Center.
The meeting will start at 6:30 pm in the Peg Ogilbee Dryland Meeting Room of the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex, 158th and Walker Road, Beaverton. The public is invited to learn about the proposal, ask questions and make comments.
According to the proposal, the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center would be renamed in honor of the late Babette Horenstein. Mrs. Horenstein is considered one of the three most influential people in the 61-year history of THPRD. A longtime park district board member and leader of many other prominent community organizations, she was a particularly staunch advocate for tennis throughout the park district.
Park district staff will take comments through July 15 before deciding whether to present the idea to the THPRD Board of Directors. If it does go to the board and is approved, the name of the facility would change to the Babette Horenstein Tennis Center before the end of this year.
