THPRD offers free summer concerts for 13th consecutive summer
Do you like sitting on a chair or blanket in the summer sun soaking up rays and live music? Like it even more if the music is family-friendly and free?
Then the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is your ticket to fun. For the 13th consecutive summer, THPRD will stage free concerts at neighborhood parks across its 50-square-mile service area of greater Beaverton.
Four free summer concerts are included in THPRD’s packed “Summer Celebrations” lineup:
July 6 at Pirate Park (Bethany) with Jazba + DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid. (This concert was relocated from Kaiser Woods Park).
July 13 at Timberland Park (Cedar Mill) with Trashcan Joe. (At intermission, THPRD will dedicate this new park).
Aug. 3 at Raleigh Park (Raleigh Hills) with the Garcia Birthday Band.
Aug. 10 at Center Street Park (Central Beaverton) with Country Side of Sunday + Bobby Torres. (In conjunction, the City of Beaverton will hold a Picnic in the Park at 5 pm).
All shows will run 6-8 pm. The picnic portion of the Aug. 10 event will actually get underway at 5 pm.
These performances are designed to bring friends, family members and neighbors together in a park setting while offering excellent musical entertainment. THPRD will provide its Rec Mobile, Nature Mobile, and other activities for children. Event sponsors and community partners will also participate. Food and drink will be available for purchase from local vendors at all locations except Center Street Park, where the city will supply picnickers with free refreshments.
In addition to these free concerts, THPRD’s Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Complex (at 158th and Walker Road) will host the seventh annual Groovin’ on the Grass show. Iconic Northwest bands Quarterflash, Curtis Salgado and Nu Shooz will share the stage for the first time. For more information including ticket prices, visit http://www.thprd.org/groovin.
