Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District has begun a district-wide assessment of more than 200 parks and facilities to identify improvements that will yield more accessibility in compliance with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards.
This ADA Survey and Trasition Plan – in keeping with the district’s mission and vision – will increase opportunities for individuals to play, learn and explore. Improvements, such as new accessible benches, pathway re-paving and adjustments to play area features, will be implemented over the next several months and years.
With more than 200 parks and facilities to audit, THPRD has contracted with MIG to complete the project. The survey team has begun its audit of THPRD’s public facilities to identify barriers and make recommendations for improvement. As work continues, you may see surveyors in parks and facilities conducting measurements and taking notes. The survey of all THPRD sites, including parks, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2015.
Following the audit, THPRD will begin prioritizing projects; a final development plan will be completed in spring 2016.
